What is Chromium?

Chromium is an essential nutrient that your body needs every day. Chromium is involved in the metabolism of glucose and the synthesis of cholesterol, fats and protein.

Chromium Deficiency

Lack of chromium may lead to Chromium deficiency, which is extremely common, can lead to fatigue, glucose intolerance, Syndrome X, poor protein metabolism and increased risk to coronary artery disease, occurring nerve problems and may decrease the body's ability to use sugar properly.

Dietary sources

Chromium is found in various foods, including brewer's yeast, particularly yeast grown in chromium-rich soil, is a rich dietary source of chromium, calf liver and wheat germ, organ meats, mushroom, oatmeal, prunes, nuts, asparagus, and whole grains and cereals.

Benefits Chromium

Chromium is essential to maintain stable blood sugar levels by helping insulin do its work, and so can be helpful for people with diabetes and hypoglycaemia.

Chromium has also been used successfully to control blood cholesterol, and it promotes the loss of fat and increases lean muscle tissue.

Chromium supplements are used to prevent or treat chromium deficiency.

The body needs chromium for normal growth and health.

Some of the top chromium health benefits are:  Monitors the blood sugar; Aids metabolism; Reduces food cravings; Regulates fat and cholesterol; Prevents hypertension

Chromium helps metabolize carbohydrates. It monitors blood sugar levels, and helps stabilize blood sugar. It can also prevent hypertension or high blood pressure. Although trials are still being conducted, chromium compounds are considered helpful in preventing memory loss and in treating Alzheimer’s disease.

Some studies have shown, that chromium supplementation may increase longevity and help prevent osteoporosis.

Note: Diabetics and anyone with Hypoglycemia. Use only under physician's supervision. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking any medications or have a medical condition please consult your healthcare practitioner before taking any dietary supplements. Keep out of reach of children.
