Are multivitamins good for you?
Recent research indicates that several of the nutrients found in standard multivitamin supplements play important roles in preventing chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and osteoporosis. A daily multivitamin supplement ensures an adequate intake of several micronutrients that are not always present in the diet in optimal amounts.
A quality multivitamin helps to bridge the nutritional gap giving your body a range of vitamins & minerals. A balanced diet is generally the key to good health. Getting a broad base of good-quality proteins, fats & carbohydrates should ensure you get enough vitamins in your diet. Everybody is different though and people will absorb different levels of vitamins from the same foods.
Ireland's leading multivitamin Terranova Life Drink provides a wide range of vitamins, minerals, prebiotics and proteins to give the body a great source of immunity and health.
Why take a multivitamin?
There are a number of reasons to take multivitamins -
• Nutrient levels in the soil are lower than in previous generations - this means that we need to find other sources of vitamins
• The same mineral levels are not present in our food today
• Impaired digestive system or absorption levels in the body
What are the types of multivitamins?
The 13 well-identified vitamins are classified according to their ability to be absorbed in fat or in water. Fat-soluble vitamins include vitamin A, D, E, and K. These are generally consumed with fat-containing foods. Because they can be stored in the body's fat, they do not have to be consumed every day. The water-soluble vitamins include the eight B vitamins and vitamin C. These cannot be stored by the body and must be consumed frequently, preferably every day.
There are also vitamins that are perfect for specific occupations - see our full range of vitamins for massage therapists as a great example.
